So, we're almost a week into entries opening for the WUU2022, so here are the numbers so far.
Half of entries are first time WUU runners, with around 70% male and 30% female. The majority of entrants are in the 40 age bracket.

I'm always thinking of new and improved categories to add into the WUU and the WAI. For the WUU2K 2022 I have removed the relay option because we now have the 21km option instead. The relay was always a bit tricky to manage and I would always end up having to juggle around teams with changes, and constant updates within the teams. This along with the mid-point congestion at the Turbine meant it was time to change things up.
For the WAI run fest 2022 I have added in 3 new categories to choose from. These include the Mount Climie Climb Climb - a charity event where runners must complete as many laps as they can within a 12 hour period. This will turn into a bit of a strategic game to see who can do the most before Midnight (they MUST be finished before the clock strikes!) We also have the 12k Scenic Flight fun run, which is half of the 24km Quad Extender fun run (which includes Climie). This 12k is a perfect jaunt for those wanting a challenging run, but without the massive distance. We are also opening this to High School kids from 12-18 years old to battle it out among themselves, and their parents. The 12k has around 600m of elevation so is still a tough grunty little run! The 24k is only for the brave, as you will be finishing with an out-and-back of Mt Climie. WUU2K opening in a couple of weeks and is always an exciting time! |
